Insurance for your Property?

man-looking-at-insuranceYou probably have Homeowners Insurance, Auto Insurance and Health Insurance, but do you have insurance for your land?

I am not referring to title insurance – that is protection for the bank. Check your policy closely to see what it covers. Look at your tax bill and compare the values of your home and land. A $50,000, $80,000, $150,000 or more value on LAND alone seems like something worth getting insurance for (metaphorically speaking).

I am not referring to an insurance policy through a major company that you pay a monthly fee for in hopes that you never need to use it. I am referring to a plan, or map, of your property that shows you where all of your property corners are. This plan depicts what you purchased when you received the deed to your property. This can only be provided by a licensed land surveyor.
